Background/Personality: Gundam Wiki

Treize Khushrenada was born into an aristocratic family in AC 171. Raised as a noble, Treize knew his place and learned how best to convince people to do as he thought best. *His oldest friend was raised along side him, one Zechs Merquise. They occasionally found themselves joined by Treize’s cousin, Dorothy Catalonia, the daughter of the founder of OZ. They found her disturbing, however fond Treize was of the young girl.*
He started his career as a soldier young, going through officer training and moving up until he was teaching at the Lake Victoria Base. During a rebel attack in 189, Treize volunteered himself and his cadets to go into battle. During this attack, Treize was injured and woke up in a Barton Foundation medical center. His nurse, Leia Barton, intrigued him for her seeming dislike of her own family's Foundation, as she said her father made the entire colony rain to put out a small fire. Treize called it incompetence, which she agreed with.
In 193, Treize’s uncle, General Catalonia, had been killed in battle. Catalonia had been the leader of OZ (Order of the Zodiac), a title that passed from the founder to Treize. Treize also succeeded in creating the Specials unit of the Alliance’s military. That portion of the military specialized in highly trained soldiers. They provided weapons to the military as well. They fought wherever, and whenever, Treize wished, giving them the opinion of the rest of the Alliance military as being bloodthirsty.
Around the time Treize grew to the rank of general, in 194, the Alliance wanted to clear out one of the colonies in the L5 cluster. Treize learned of this and sent his men, already influential enough to have garnered loyalty, to do the job properly. As the Alliance was planning to use biological weapons to ‘decontaminate’ the colony, Treize saw this as dishonorable and wanted it done cleanly. It was the first time OZ and the Alliance's actions differed. Along with Alliance Sanitation Commander, Sally Po, Treize reported the decontamination of the L5 cluster a success, despite the colony's defense having succeeded in repelling his suits. His second in command, one Lady Une, informed him of the sighting of a gundanium mobile suit outside the colony and asked if he wanted it reported to the Alliance. He declined, stating that mobile suit was the colonies' will to rebel and that it was an enemy he should face. He knew that he would be facing an attack from the L5 colony in retaliation to his part in their attack. He told Une that the justice of space would descend upon Earth, and that they should wait for it.
April of 195 had the start of Operation Meteor, where five 'shooting stars' fell to Earth. OZ had learned of the probability of this and were prepared to counter the Colonies' move. In response to Zechs fighting and losing three mobile suits against a gundam, Treize had to calm his superiors down. He told Zechs the colonies’ attack wouldn’t have happened if they’d been in OZ fifteen years before, referring to the pacifist Heero Yuy’s assassination. He went on to tell Zechs to do nothing to anger the Alliance. In the meeting, Treize was accused of abusing the Alliance’s valuable combat resources, to which he asked if they were referring to the soldiers, or the mobile suits, displaying which he valued higher. It also showed that he didn’t think highly of his superiors.
Treize relied on Zechs to be his right hand, or advance soldier. He made plans with him and valued Zechs’ opinions, which was also displayed in how much freedom to do his will Zechs was allowed, compared to the other soldiers under Treize’s leadership.
Treize told Une to take care of Dorlian because he was in the way of Treize’s plans, which led to Dorlain’s assassination. Because the Vice Foreign Minister’s daughter, Relena, bore witness, Une sought to kill her as well. However, during the attack on Relena’s school during the spring dance, Treize ordered it off. This was due to Noin’s informing Treize of Relena’s familial relationship to Zechs, and him responding as a favor to his old friend. It displayed his loyalty to old and valuable friends.
Displaying his ruthlessness, Treize put himself and Une up as bait for the gundam pilots in the form of ‘letting out’ the fact high ranking OZ officials would be at the New Edwards Base. It was only true in the fact he and Une were there, the meeting was between the leading Alliance’s pacifists to discuss how best to end the war. When four of the five pilots took the bait and attacked, Treize advised the pacifists to escape using his own shuttle. Gundam 01 took flight and sliced the shuttle in half, destroying the Alliance’s pacifists. Treize used the trap to change the course of history to his own purposes. As he personally oversaw that part of his plan, through Zechs he set into motion a world-wide coup to overthrow the Alliance as the main military power.
Successful in displacing the Alliance with OZ, Treize managed to work the trap for the gundam pilots into it being a ‘declaration of war by the Colonies’, justifying his actions and increasing his military strength.
Straight from the New Edwards Base, Treize joined his fleet of ships, leaving dealing with removing the gundams from the New Edwards Base up to Une. She used that to order the missiles on the base to be detonated. Later, upon this failing, Treize commented that they were saved by the Gundams. His love of the Earth was displayed when he went on to mention that 'the Earth is a confined place and should be treated gently'. Une was chastised by Treize telling her she needed to learn more about OZ.
When Treize’s fleet was attacked, he could easily have escaped unscathed. However, when a gundam attacked Une’s ship, he returned. Instead of continuing that attack, the gundam headed for him. The pilot, Chang Wufei, noticed Treize standing with a sword in obvious challenge, and left his suit to accept. Despite Treize succeeding in the subsequent duel, Wufei was allowed to leave with his life. When Une questioned him on letting the enemy go, Treize responded by saying it was a good fight and that he respected the pilot for giving him the honor of fighting with his choice of weapons. He saw why Wufei made a good gundam pilot and that he looked forward to the rematch, when they could fight with Wufei’s specialty – the mobile suit.
When Une threatened the Colonies during a fight with all five Gundams, with the demand to hand the gundams over, Treize spoke through Noin to tell Une to be more graceful about everything. It showed he disagreed with that method, as he didn’t want to involve civilians – OZ’s targets were the rebels. Despite this second chastisement to Une, Treize continued to have a very loyal right hand, displaying how charismatic he was. The fact Une drastically changed her personality just to please him was further proof.
Treize’s faith in Une was shown by him continuing to give her responsibilities that he would give no one else, despite her occasional misunderstanding of what he really wanted.
When Relena’s life was again threatened due to Une, Treize sent Noin to be Relena’s bodyguard and to make sure the girl was kept out of trouble.
With Romefellar’s rise to power, as a noble member of the Foundation who created and developed weapons, Treize went to a conference with their leaders to speak and rally people to his cause. There, he met Relena who had interrupted the conference despite Noin’s presence and caused a stir. Noin was then thanked for removing her from the stage, and excuses were made by Treize to the leader of Romefellar. The fact Treize took the time to personally thank Noin displayed he respected his soldiers and acknowledged their talent and what they succeeded at.
However, Romefellar used it as an excuse to bring up Zechs’ ‘too many freedoms’. Treize simply agreed to contact Zechs and order him to destroy the gundam Zechs was rebuilding, if it was what the Foundation wanted. This was despite Treize’s disagreement of the decision, the latter of which Noin expressed to Zechs.
Treize gave Zechs a chance to keep fighting for him after Zechs’ capture (after the rematch with 01). However, Zechs declined. Treize requested that he sacrifice himself for OZ so he could make the most value out of his death by motivating his soldiers. Zechs knew, when the conversation ended, that he was to be tested to see if he could survive as friends with Treize.
Treize knew the new mobile dolls were being tested to replace human soldiers and personally went to represent the human soldiers against the Dolls by piloting a Leo and attacking the Dolls. The display further expressed his respect for soldiers in battle, giving it meaning instead of simply being a game, as the removal of bloodshed from the battle field would make it.
Treize asked Tsubarov, Romefeller’s chief engineer and designer of the mobile dolls, to place more value on human lives and grow to love them. He wanted to show Tsubarov how much respect he had gathered from his soldiers by valuing their lives by ordering the soldiers Tsubarov had brought with him to protect him, to turn around and kill him. To add to that and drive the point in, Treize proceeded to order his men to stand down before they fired.
A monologue where Treize told Zechs to hurry up and return to him because without Zechs around to help, OZ would allow worthless actions by worthless people displayed how highly Treize valued Zechs, even then.
Zechs survived the attack that was more a test than anything, however he swore he could never be Treize’s friend again when his mask broke, which it did during that battle. Because he survived, Zechs was labeled OZ’s enemy. In a sense, Zechs did indeed die, as he discarded his mask and the name and personae that had accompanied it, regaining his birth-name and identity, Milliardo Peacecraft. As Milliardo, Zechs went to space as a goodwill ambassador, completely separate from OZ and Treize.
Treize asked Une how she planned to use the mobile dolls she was fond of. When told the dolls would replace humans, and that his future was already mapped out and all he needed to do was join her in space, Treize declined, having no desire to rule the Earth and Colonies from space by using the soulless dolls. He asked Une to return to him as the Une he used to be so fond of, as he was not pleased with the changes she went through, despite it all having been for him.
Treize admitted to Milliardo during a battle that he lacked the power to change the path Romefellar was taking. That OZ was taking a path he had never expected and that ignored the true heart of humans. He admitted to not having the power at the moment, and asked Milliardo to save Une in the battle. Even though Une’s feelings for Treize caused split personalities in her, that he made her feel insecure, Une vowed during that battle to fight for Treize’s ideals. Milliardo, despite having left Treize’s chain of command, succeeded in keeping Une from being harmed by the beam canon.
The more the mobile dolls were used by Romefeller, the less pleased Treize became. When Treize was informed he was being relied upon more for his leadership of OZ, he apologized and said he could no longer support the direction being taken. He made the point that mobile dolls were soulless and would be an embarrassment of the future. He asked that OZ be removed from Romefeller, however he was confined to his Luxembourg residence under house arrest to prevent bloodshed. It caused a schism to form between his supporters and Romefeller loyalists in OZ.
During his period of house arrest on one of Romefellar's estates, Treize created a mobile suit made of gundanium of his own design, installing the ZERO system that 04 used. He called that machine the Gundam Epyon, and decided that to end the war, once he left his house arrest, his death would be required. A way to tell his followers to put their weapons down. He inputted the gundam pilots’ prints to allow them free access should they come for him with the intent to give Epyon to them if they agreed to use it, then kill him.
Sure enough, Heero Yuy (pilot 01) eventually came and he offered the use of Epyon, for the purpose of killing him. However, Heero declined after the ZERO system defeated him, claiming he didn't have the right to kill Treize. Regardless, Treize insisted Heero take the Epyon gundam with him, and leave with his blessing. Treize remained watching the war effort in seclusion until it seemed he was needed to take a stand once more. He figured the best way to do that, and to end the war, was to take the crown from Queen Relena, who had been placed as a puppet on the thrown of Romefellar.
He visited his loyal former right hand, Lady Une, whom had been shot in action but had survived. As she remained in a coma, all he could do was leave a bundle of red roses to show his appreciation for her endless devotion, misguided or misunderstood as it often was. Then left to return to the action with a rising speech removing Peacecraft from her figurehead role. He was welcomed back with open arms, further indicating how much influence he held.
Treize felt he was needed most in space, therefore traveled to join in the fight personally. He piloted his specialized, redesigned Tallgeese II, an elegant mobile suit geared for duels, against the gundam pilots and White Fang, leading his loyal supporters in battle.
He faced off with Wufei personally, however knew his death would be necessary to achieve the peace he sought. During the duel, Wufei demanded to know if Treize knew precisely how many people had died for him. In simple answer, Treize recited the exact number even as he expressed sorrow that so many deaths had been necessary.
He disliked using the spirited pilot for the task necessary, but lowered his defense at a critical moment as Wufei attacked. The blow destroyed his mobile suit, killing him. However, even just before death, he told Wufei how honoured he'd been to have the opportunity to fight against him.
Skills/Abilities: He is a superior swordsman, sharpshooter, pilot, and soldier. This means he is fast for his height, along with being physically strong with the stamina to match.
Treize is an excellent politician and strategist with the charisma to lead men and influence people even after his death.
Otherwise he is merely human with human faults and weaknesses.

Nothing. Yet.
That wasn't exactly a failure, he'd felt that stubborn resistance. So Treize closed his eyes and stood still and straight. Centered himself and firmed his mind and will. Earth was stubborn. But so was he. He could do this. Had done so already.
Now!
Treize lept, then landed, smacking hands down on earth and watched the ripple expand around him for a few yards, bringing up jagged pillars as tall as his crouched form. Success ran through him and he sat back down in the meditative position he'd been taught. His mostly healed shoulder twinged in some pain at the abuse, but he pushed it away. The healers had done a remarkable job for a man who should be dead. It was enough, and the tenderness should eventually fade - if he gave himself the time to rest and recover, which he didn't nearly as much as he should.
Legs crossed. Fists touching in front of his chest. Eyes closed once more. He focused on breathing. On feeling the earth and stone beneath him.
